Château Thénac

Wine Cellar

A treasure trove

The barrel store is where the hard work undertaken in the vineyard comes into its own. Every effort is made to highlight the softness and the natural characteristics of the terroir.

Stéphane Guillot, a passion for great wines

Stéphane Guillot is a local, originally from Périgord. When he was still fresh out of oenology school in Bordeaux, the Ott family entrusted him with the production of the wines of Clos Mireille, in Provence. In 2012, seduced by the challenge and still attached to his roots, he joined Château Thénac. Just like an orchestra conductor, he spends every day leading the teams in the vineyard and in the wine cellar. Every task is undertaken with the utmost care and precision because the creation of a great wine is made up of an infinite amount of smaller details.

With Hubert de Boüard

From the 2017 vintage onwards, the cru is overseen by Hubert de Boüard, who manages Château Angélus in Saint-Emilion. He and Stéphane Guillot focus on the balance of Thénac’s qualities; its honesty to the terroir and our desire to showcase nature through our wine. The key to our philosophy is our attention to detail.

The various sizes of the stainless-steel vats allow for each plot to be vinified separately. Fermentation and maceration are carried out with a focus on preserving aromatic purity. Extractions are done prudently and measured so that only the finest tannins are released.
